For over thirty years, it has been debated whether the use of medical marijuana should be allowed for medical purposes. Marijuana can be used as a treatment for nausea and vomiting, as well as a pain reliever from other medical treatments such as chemotherapy. Others argue that its use can lead to addiction and could lead to health risks such as lung and heart problems over time. Therefore, medical marijuana should be strictly limited for medical use and monitored to meet the needs of the patient. Medical marijuana should be allowed to relieve pain from illnesses and other treatments, and to assist with treating patients with other preexisting conditions. Epilepsy seizures have been found to be controlled by medical marijuana. In 2006, a young girl was born, and had an undiagnosed disease that caused frequent seizures. Over the course of a few years under the treatment of marijuana, the seizures became rare and the child has made steady improvement because of the drug.
